How much does it cost to send a Certified Mail letter?
$6.48 is the current USPS Certified Mail rate to send a 1-ounce Certified Mail letter with Return Receipt Requested service (old fashioned green card). The US Postal Board of Governors approves all USPS Postal Rates for sending USPS Certified Mail. The cost to send a 1-ounce USPS Certified Mail letter with Return Receipt (green card) is $6.48. The new Certified Mail rate became effective Sunday January 26, 2014. Fees for First Class and Certified Mail rates and service fees were also increased.

In summary, Certified Mail rates increased to $3.30 per letter. If you use the old fashioned green cards the Return Receipt will cost an additional $2.70. To reduce costs, consider using Electronic Return Receipt that costs $1.35 per mailing. This eliminates the old fashioned green card and will save you $1.97 per mailing. First Class rates nudge up two cents to $0.48, and each additional OZ will cost $0.21. If you are still using the old fashioned green cards and stickers from the Post Office your cost will increase to $6.48.
